Casey La Scala interview: ‘The Remaining,’ Rapture, ‘Donnie Darko’

Inspired by the biblical account of the Rapture, a new faith-based film is cracking the horror/thriller genre. The Remaining director, Casey La Scala, spoke with Dispatch Radio about the film, breaking these barriers and what audiences should expect.

In contrast to the popular Left Behind book series, Casey explains how this is a “micro” look, compared to “macro” in the Lahaye/Jenkins series. The film focuses on a young group of five characters, their impact and growth in the wake of the Rapture. This sharply contrasts to the global picture presented in Left Behind, explained La Scala.

The Remaining went from a found footage project to great story of survivors battling a “horrifying enemy” which is unleashed on the earth. Casey details this process and praises the team which made it a reality on film.

Affirm continues to be a growing leader in the faith-based entertainment industry, picking up the film for wide distribution. La Scala is excited for audiences to experience the film and leave with a new challenge for their own beliefs and the “what if’s” which come with talk of the Rapture.
