Colton Dixon interview: Winter Jam 2014, ‘American Idol’ and fame
Colton Dixon may have made a splash on American Idol, but Christian music fans are flocking to see and support the young star.
Dixon is part of the Jam Tour which features ten of the top Christian musicians for a general admission price of $10, while offering upgraded tickets at a higher price.
Discussing the tour with The Global Dispatch, Dixon describes the show as “Awesome!,” before recounting his “missed flight fiasco” during the first weekend.
The former Idol star is part of a lineup which includes Newsboys, Lecrae, Tenth Avenue North, Thousand Foot Krutch, PLUMB, NewSong, Love & The Outcome, Everfound, Derek Minor & Speaker Nick Hall.
A new “Expanded Edtion” of his first album A Messenger is now available, featuring a ton of re-mixes and additional tracks.
“It you already have the record, it’s basically a crazier extension of that,” he says of the album which includes two new tracks and several remixed songs.
The conversation shifted to life after American Idol, dealing with fame and how difficult staying humble and pointing to God can be when every fan is lining up to say ‘I love you.’
“I don’t think any human being was designed to receive that much credit,” Dixon says. Comparing the challenges of pride, envy and greed to the fall of Lucifer, he says “It’s easy to go down that path. You just have to remain humble and do that by staying in the word and talking to God on a daily basis.”
