Matthew West discusses Winter Jam, Nashville, ‘Grandma’s music’

The 40 city, three month Winter Jam tour features ten Christian artists and Matthew West is among those top names on the schedule.

Matthew-West-Winter-Jam-300x287Talking with in a Jan. 29 article, West recalls starting out in Nashville. After college, he couldn’t land a record deal and just dug in as a songwriter saying ” “it turned out to be a blessing in disguise.”

Now playing songs from his latest album “Into the Light” West is joined by TobyMac, Red, Sidewalk Prophets, Jamie Grace, Royal Tailor, Capital Kings, Jason Castro, NewSong and OBB.

“It’s the perfect concert if you’re even slightly ADD. The minute you get bored another band comes onstage!”

The show appeals to kids and parents alike, with artists from all styles of music.

“This is not your grandma’s Christian music – not that there’s anything wrong with your grandma’s music!”

From the wrap style that TobyMac presents to the pyrotechnics and metal Christian music, there’s something for most tastes.

Winter Jam heads to Evansville, Indiana for a Jan. 31 show, then on to Milwaukee for the first show of February and closing out the weekend in Louisville.
