Scott Schwartz talks Flick, ‘A Christmas Story,’ ‘The Toy’ Jackie Gleason getting left and his book

Scott-Schwartz-as-Flick-with-his-tongue-stuck-on-the-pole-A-Christmas-Story-300x210Scott Schwartz may not be the big name Americans recognize, but finding someone who isn’t aware of the little boy getting his tongue stuck on the flagpole in A Christmas Story may be a big challenge.

Schwartz also starred with Richard Pryor and Jackie Gleason in The Toy, so Dispatch Radio talked with the actor about these roles, the 30th anniversary of A Christmas Story and much, much more.

During an interview full of gratitude and fond memories, Schwartz discusses director Bob Clark keeping the bullies away during the shoot for Christmas Story, so they would truly be intimidated and afraid. On The Toy, Schwartz praised his co-stars and director Richard Donner for all of their support and advice during the production.

One of the highlights of the interview is Schwartz recounting a story of Gleason being abandoned by a limo driver who quit on the job.

These tales have inspired the actor to share more with fans and even writing a book to dive deeper into these behind-the-scenes adventures.
