Steven Curtis Chapman Interview: The Glorious Unfolding 2014 tour, album and making music after a tragedy

Award winning Christian musician Steven Curtis Chapman has returned to the top of Christian music charts with his latest album, The Glorious Unfolding, and has announced details of his 2014 tour.

Steven-Curtis-Chapman-300x233While The Story Tour comes to a close, Chapman reflected on the 2013 tour as looked ahead to 2o14 shows with The Afters and Josh Wilson during his interview with The Global Dispatch.

“…I love touring with other artist,s started doing more recently, is not splitting it up as much as ‘this is the opening act’ or ‘here’s my spot’ or support acts, but…weaving us all together so it feels like a really unique night,” he explains, contrasting the performances with a solo show.

After 35 cities on the first leg of the tour, Chapman will return to the road in February 2014. The new single “Love Take Me Over” has shot up the charts, but Chapman says it contrasts the overall tone of the album and his emotional state in recording the album, especially in the wake of losing his daughter Maria.

“Will I sit on a stool and play ballads for the rest of my singing days? Is that what’s going to feel most appropriate and most honest…,” Chapman explains.

As fans know that is not the case and he goes on the delve into the emotional healing, transitioning as a musician and as a family.

Chapman discusses the story behind “Love Take Me Over” as well as his charity, Show Hope, which he and wife Mary Beth developed to assist families financially during the adoption process.
